TESLA is the successor of one of the first electrotechnical enterprises in the former Czechoslovakia. It was founded exclusively with Czech capital under the name ELEKTRA on January 18th, 1921. From 1932 to 1945 it was the PHILIPS holding. The production program ranged from light bulbs, electron tubes, radio receivers, military technology to radio and television transmitters. Founded in 1886 as Westinghouse Electric Company and later renamed Westinghouse Electric Corporation by George Westinghouse. The company purchased CBS in 1995 and was renamed CBS Corporation in 1997. George Westinghouse had previously founded the Westinghouse Air Brake Company.
